What do the symbols on the Smart Radiator Thermostat X user interface mean?

Home screen

The home screen of the Smart Radiator Thermostat X shows the set temperature, which you can adjust either in the app or manually by turning the control knob, and the measured temperature. An icon bar is displayed at the top of the screen and the individual icons are explained below.

Icon

Meaning

Wrench

The device is not mounted. A blinking wrench indicates that mounting is in progress.

Device is discoverable

The device is ready to connect. You can scan the QR code or type in the numerical code, either on the device or on its Get started card, to add it to the tado° app (recommended), or any other Matter-compatible smart home app (e.g. Google Home, Apple Home, or Amazon Alexa).

Heating Levels

1 - 3 heat waves indicate the amount of heat being requested.

Manual Control

The device has been mounted and is set to manual control.

Low battery

The battery is running low and needs to be recharged soon.

Schedule

The device is following the Smart Schedule set in the app.

Successfully connected

The device has been connected. This icon will disappear after a few seconds.

Signal lost

The device has lost connection with the Thread border router. Refer to this article for troubleshooting.

Child Lock

Child Lock has been activated in the app. Tap or turn the display for instructions on how to disable child lock manually. Manually unlocking is temporary; to permanently disable child lock, go to the app.

Open Window Detection

An open window has been detected and heating in this room is currently turned off.

Away Mode

tado° is in Away Mode. It is set to the temperature specified in your Smart Schedule.

Installation

Below are the screens you might see on the Smart Radiator Thermostat X display during the installation process.

Display

Meaning

Connecting

The device is currently connecting to your smart home network (consisting of Thread and Matter).

Mounting

The device is in the process of mounting to the radiator valve.

Failed

Something went wrong, either while the device was connecting to the Matter network or while mounting.

Menu

Below are the screens available in the Smart Radiator Thermostat X menu. To access the menu, tap and hold the screen for 3 seconds.

Display

Meaning

Language Selection

Turn the control knob to select your language. Tap once to confirm your choice and return to the menu.

Screen Orientation

Turn the control knob to adjust your screen orientation. Tap once to confirm your choice and return to the home screen.

General

Display

Meaning

Boost Mode

All the radiators in the room will heat to the maximum for 30 minutes. You can activate this in the app and exit Boost Mode either in the app or by turning the display.

Hold Automation

Tap and hold for 3 seconds in order to access the menu or confirm certain processes.

Depleted Battery
