The Smart Radiator Thermostat X has a rechargeable Lithium battery that can be charged with a standard USB-C cable. You can charge your device at any time, but we recommend fully charging the battery before installing your Smart Radiator Thermostat X and before each heating season.
Follow these steps to charge your Smart Radiator Thermostat X:
Disconnect the battery pack from the base of your device by turning it clockwise and releasing. If the device is already mounted on the radiator, you don’t need to unmount the whole Smart Radiator Thermostat from the radiator, only the battery pack.
2. Plug a standard USB-C charger cable into the USB-C port on the battery pack.
3. Connect to power. A white LED lights up while the battery is charging.
4. When the battery is fully charged (which could take 2-5 hours), the white LED turns off and you can unplug the USB-C cable.
5. Insert the battery pack back into the body of the Smart Radiator Thermostat by aligning the notches and turning counterclockwise until you hear a click.
Will my heating still work while the battery is charging?
Yes. The Smart Radiator Thermostat X will keep working based on the same heat request as when it was last connected to the battery. However, it will not be able to make any smart adjustments or follow a preset schedule while the battery is disconnected. We recommend setting your radiator to a moderate temperature before disconnecting and charging the battery, since you won’t be able to adjust the temperature while the Smart Radiator Thermostat is powered off.
How often do I need to charge my Smart Radiator Thermostat X?
The Smart Radiator Thermostat X battery will last for up to one year. We recommend charging the battery before the heating season begins. You can buy a backup battery pack or a USB-C cable for convenience in our webshop.
Note:
Do not attempt to use any other type of battery with your Smart Radiator Thermostat X as this could damage the device.
Batteries in disconnected devices deplete much faster than in connected devices. We recommend keeping your devices connected and setting all rooms to OFF when no heat is needed, such as in summer months, to maximise battery life.
How long does it take to charge my Smart Radiator Thermostat X?
It takes approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge your Smart Radiator Thermostat X. If you buy a backup battery pack, you can simply swap the low power battery pack with the fully charged battery pack to avoid any waiting.
