Matter codes are laser-etched on each tado° X room control device and also printed on the Get started cards in each device’s packaging. Each Smart Radiator Thermostat X, Smart Thermostat X, and Wireless Temperature Sensor X has its own unique Matter code. You can scan the QR code or type in the numerical code to add your device to the tado° app or any other Smart Home app that supports Matter.
Note: once your tado° X device is added to the tado° Matter fabric via the tado° app, the Matter QR code is no longer valid. If you need to link the device to a third-party Matter app afterward, you’ll need to use the numeric code from the tado° app. To find the code:
Open the tado° app.
Go to Settings > Rooms and Devices.
Select Matter device linking for each device.
On the Get started card in the packaging
We recommend that you keep this card because scanning the Matter code straight from the card is a convenient way to add your devices to third-party Matter apps (e.g., Google Home, Apple Home, Amazon Alexa) that you might want to use.
After you add each device to a Room in the tado° app, you can write the name of the room on the device’s Get started card and keep it for future reference. But don’t worry if you lose the card, you can always scan the same Matter code on the device itself.
On the Smart Radiator Thermostat X
The Matter code is on the inside of the Smart Radiator Thermostat X. To access it, you’ll need to disconnect the battery pack from the base of your device by turning it clockwise and releasing, just like you would when recharging the battery.
On the Smart Thermostat X or Wireless Temperature Sensor X
The Matter code is on the back of the device. Remove the body of the device from its backplate by gripping the outside of the device with your hand and gently pulling it away from the wall, just like you would when replacing the batteries.
Please note: the tado° Bridge X, Heat Pump Optimizer X, and Wireless Receiver X don't have Matter codes. They are essential for enabling communication between your tado° X devices and any compatible Smart Home apps, but you don’t need to add them to Matter apps.
