The Smart Thermostat X and Wireless Temperature Sensor X each require three AAA alkaline batteries (LR03). We do not recommend using Duracell Optimum batteries because they are slightly too short for the battery compartment.
To change the batteries, follow these steps:
Remove the device from the backplate by gripping the outside of the device with your hand and gently pulling it away from the wall.
2. Replace the empty batteries with three fresh AAA alkaline batteries.
3. Put the device back on its backplate and press it into place.
When replacing the batteries, please remember the following:
Only use the indicated battery type.
Do not mix battery types.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Replace all batteries at the same time.
Make sure the positive (+) and the negative (-) battery polarities are correctly aligned with the symbols in the battery compartment.
Note: If you disconnect the Bridge X and have no other Thread border router to connect your tadoº devices to the Thread network, your batteries will deplete much faster. Your tado° devices will spend extra energy constantly searching for a connection. Instead, we recommend that you always keep your devices connected, and in summer months when no heat is needed, you can set all rooms to OFF.
