The tado° Smart Thermostat X and Smart Radiator Thermostat X can be installed without an Internet connection and can control your heating system while offline.
You can install and operate the tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X and tado° Smart Thermostat X even without the Internet.These devices are designed to work right out of the box - they just need to be connected to your heating system.

Basic installation for manual control
If you’ll install tado° devices in a home that does not have a Wi-Fi network, you can use these devices to manually control your heating system once the Smart Thermostat X is wired to the home system, or the Smart Radiator Thermostat X is mounted to the radiator.
Installation using a temporary hotspot
If you’ll install tado° devices in a home that does not have a Wi-Fi network, but you wish to access the tado° app during setup, it’s possible to use a temporary hotspot from a mobile phone.
You’ll need two smartphones (one to create the hotspot and the other to access the tado° app) and a tado° Bridge X in addition to the Smart Radiator Thermostat X and/or Smart Thermostat X. To connect devices to each other and to access guided, step-by-step installation instructions, you’ll need to register each tado° device in the tado° app.
Using your mobile phone, activate the hotspot function. On an iPhone, activate the Personal Hotspot with the Maximise Compatibility option enabled. On an Android smartphone, activate the hotspot or tethering function as described in this article.
Using a second device (phone or tablet), connect to the hotspot network and open the tado° app.
You can then set up your new account and register your devices as follows:
Create a new tado° account and Home.
Register your tado° Bridge X by going to Settings > Rooms & Devices > Add device, then scan its QR code.
Follow the instructions and select Use Wi-Fi password as your setup method to connect to your hotspot Wi-Fi network.
When prompted to allow tado° to access your home network, select Allow.
If the message to allow tado° to access your home network didn’t appear, go to Settings > Rooms & Devices > Bridge X. On the Bridge X page, select Configure.
Register additional tado° devices by going to Rooms & Devices > Add device, then scanning the QR code on the device.
Follow the instructions in the app to connect the Smart Thermostat X and Smart Radiator Thermostat X to the Bridge X.
The tado° thermostat will automatically download the heating schedule that you set up on the tado° app once it’s connected to the Bridge X and the app.
You can now freely deactivate the mobile hotspot. Your tado° devices will continue to follow their heating schedules, as they are now stored locally in your Smart Thermostat X and Smart Radiator Thermostat X.
