You can manage all your tado° X room control devices (Smart Thermostat X, Smart Radiator Thermostat X, or Wireless Temperature Sensor X) in the Google Home app and with Google voice commands.
You will need a Matter-enabled Google hub to control your tado° X devices with the Google Home app or Google Assistant.
You will need to add your tado° X room control devices one by one to the Google Home app, but you don’t need to add any tado° Thread border routers (e.g. Bridge X, Heat Pump Optimizer X, Wireless Receiver X).
To make sure that your voice commands are properly understood, we recommend that you group devices in rooms in the same way in the Google Home app as in the tado° app.
Adding tado° X devices to Google Home
You can add your tado° X devices to your Google Home either from the tado° app or the Google Home app. You will need to add them individually. First, make sure that:
the device that you want to add is powered
your phone is running on iOS 16.4, Android 9, or later
In the tado° app:
Open the tado° app.
Select Settings > Rooms and devices and select the device that you want to add.
Scroll down and select Device linking.
On iOS, copy the setup code when prompted and proceed to the Google Home app to add the device. Paste the code when prompted.
On Android, select the Google Home icon and follow the pop-up instructions to link your device.
Repeat for each device.
Alternatively, you can add a tado° X device to your Google Home from the Google Home app. Note that this method only applies to brand new devices (not yet added to the tado° app), or devices that have just undergone a Factory Reset. Otherwise, link your device as described above.
It’s not possible to select your tado° X devices from the Google Home app’s Works with Google function.
In the Google Home app:
Go to the Google Home app and select Devices > Add > Matter-enabled device.
Scan the Matter QR code on the tado° X device.
Choose the location and a name for your device to complete the setup.

Adding your tado° X device to multiple third-party Matter fabrics (e.g. Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home) can slightly decrease the device’s battery life because each fabric requires the device to send and receive additional information.
Most users manage their tado° X devices in the tado° app or with one other smart home platform of their choice without experiencing a significant effect on battery life.
