Please note: the Bridge X only connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If your router shows both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, make sure that your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz network that the Bridge X is trying to connect to.

If this is not the case, try the following:

  1. Switch your phone’s Wi-Fi from your home’s 5 GHz Wi-Fi network to the 2.4 GHz network (if possible).

  2. Move to a room farther from the router. The 5 GHz signal weakens over distance, prompting your phone to automatically switch to the 2.4 GHz network.

  3. Access your Wi-Fi router’s settings to either deactivate the 5 GHz network entirely or enable mDNS communication between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.

If you are using the Wi-Fi password method

If you have successfully connected your Bridge X to your home Wi-Fi, but the tado° app is unable to configure your bridge, this means your Bridge X has taken longer than usual to configure the Thread network. No additional tado° device can be connected to the network until configuration is complete.

You can restart configuration by following these steps:

  1. Select Retry.

  2. Make sure your phone is connected to your router’s network (the same Wi-Fi network that the Bridge X will try to connect to).

  3. Make sure you select Allow when prompted to allow tado° to access your home network. If you selected Don’t Allow, you can return to that screen by selecting Retry.

  4. If you have closed the screen, you can re-enter it by selecting Settings > Rooms & Devices, and selecting Bridge X from the list of devices. Select the Configure button.

  5. If the issue persists, do a power cycle by unplugging the Bridge X then plugging it back in. Select Retry after the Bridge X has started up again.

  6. If the issue still persists, do a Factory Reset on your Bridge X. Close your current app screen, then scan the QR code to reinstall.

If you are using the Simple Setup method (WPS)

After you have pressed the WPS buttons on your router, on your Bridge X, and have confirmed in the app, you may arrive on the screen saying Unable to configure your Bridge. Your Bridge X should indicate successful connection to the WiFi (at least 1 Wi-Fi LED is solidly on). If that's not the case, repeat the Simple Setup process from the beginning.

  1. Select Retry.

  2. Make sure your phone is connected to your router’s network (the same Wi-Fi network that the Bridge X will try to connect to)

  3. Make sure you select Allow when prompted to allow tado° to access your home network. If you selected Don’t Allow, you can return to that screen by selecting Retry.

  4. If you have closed the screen, you can re-enter by selecting Settings > Rooms & Devices, and selecting Bridge X from the list of devices. Select the Configure button.

  5. If the issue persists, do a power cycle by unplugging the Bridge X then plugging it back in. Select Retry after LEDs light up again.

  6. If the issue still persists, do a Factory Reset on your Bridge X. Close your current app screen, then scan the QR code to reinstall.
