If the batteries in your devices are low or depleted, tado° won’t be able to control your heating as intended.

You could encounter the following problems if you don’t replace or recharge low batteries:

  • The displays on your devices may flicker and buttons could become unresponsive.

  • You may not be able to control your devices manually.

  • If the Smart Radiator Thermostat doesn’t have enough battery power to close the radiator valve (or re-close after responding to a Frost Protection action), the valve can remain open and heat continuously.

  • Your devices could go offline.

When the batteries in your devices are running low, you will receive the following warnings:

  • Your devices will show a low or depleted battery symbol on their displays.

  • An error message will appear in the Home page in the tado° app. Click View Device to see which device(s) are affected, or navigate from Settings > Rooms and Devices. Devices with low battery are marked with a red battery icon*.

Please make sure that you replace or recharge your batteries as soon as you receive a low battery notification, either on the device or in the app. This will help your devices stay connected and operate properly.

Note: If you disconnect the Bridge X (along with any other Thread border routers that you might have in your home), the batteries in your tado° devices will deplete much faster. Your tado° devices will spend extra energy constantly searching for an internet connection. Instead, we recommend that you set all rooms to OFF when no heat is needed (e.g. summer months).

*If your tado° device disconnects, the tado° app will show that this device is offline, but can’t display its battery status.
