tado° X allows your Bridge X to be removed from your tado° home to more flexibly manage your smart home systems.

The Bridge X enables your tado° devices to connect to your home Wi-Fi. If you delete your Bridge X from your from your tado° app and remove it from the electrical socket, it will affect your network by:

  • Causing your devices to go offline if this Bridge X is your only Thread border router. tado° devices will continue to control your heating, following their locally-stored schedules, but changes can’t be made via the app, only manually.

  • Reducing your network range if you have another Thread border router and were using the Bridge X as a range extender.

As long as the Bridge X is still plugged in, it will still provide a network connection to your other devices. Accidentally deleting the Bridge X from your tado° app will not disrupt your heating.

Accidentally deleting your Bridge X in the tado° app

If a Bridge X is accidentally deleted from your tado° Home, you can re-add it. The Bridge X will still provide a network connection to your other devices as long as it is powered on and nearby.

  1. Open your tado° Home and go to Settings.

  2. Select Rooms and Devices.

  3. Select Add a device.

  4. Scan the QR code on your Bridge X when prompted.

  5. The tado° app will recognize your Bridge X and automatically reconnect it.

Why would I want to remove my Bridge X?

You may want to remove a Bridge X if:

  • You’re replacing a Bridge X with another Bridge X (malfunction or damage).

  • Your network already has another Thread border router. However, not all Thread border routers are strong enough to cover an entire house. You may still need a Bridge X to extend your network to all devices. You can add a Bridge X as a range extender at any time: visit our webshop for more details.
