Smart AC Control/cooling references apply only to V3+ or older tado° devices.
Once you install your tado° devices, you can use the tado° app to control your heating and cooling anytime, anywhere.
Home Screen
The Home Screen gives you quick access to your rooms, schedules, and tado° features.
Starting from the top, you’ll find:
Use Quick Actions to change settings across all your rooms at once.
You can:
Switch to Home or Switch to Away to change your Geofencing state.
Switch to Auto to let Geofencing detect whether you’re Home or Away (only available with Auto-Assist and AI Assist).
Turn off heating when Open Window Detection activates.
Turn OFF heating or cooling in all rooms.
Boost Heating to set heating to maximum in all rooms for up to 30 minutes.
Resume Schedule to return to your heating schedule after you manually adjust or turn off some or all rooms.
Each coloured tile with a temperature represents a room you’ve created in your Home. You may also have tiles for heating, hot water, or heat pump functions, depending on your setup. You can select any tile for more details.
The room tile shows:
Humidity: The humidity level inside the room, shown as a percentage with a drop icon.
Large number: The current room temperature.
Small number: The target temperature. When the room is actively heating or cooling, it shows the temperature the room is heating or cooling to. If the room isn’t actively heating or cooling, it shows the temperature you set the room to.
If you have tado° X devices:
A hand icon next to the smaller number means Manual Control is active.
A Balance icon means Balance for Heat Pumps is active.
Room tile colours
The colour of the room tiles gives you a quick overview of their temperatures:
Light to dark green: The room is set to an energy-saving temperature (below 19°C).
Yellow to orange: The room is set to a higher temperature.
Grey: The room is set to OFF/Frost protection.
Select a room tile to:
Manage your Smart Schedule.
View your Climate Report.
Skills
Below your room tiles, you’ll find your available Skills, such as:
Get insights into the air quality in your home.
Check whether your Home is currently set to Home or Away Mode in your Smart Schedule.
You can also set your status to Auto (only available with Auto-Assist and AI Assist), Home, or Away.
Please note: If you manage multiple homes with tado°, Geofencing only works for the Home you’re currently signed in to, unless you have an Auto-Assist or AI Assist subscription. With a subscription, Geofencing works across all your Homes in the background.
View detailed information about your energy consumption.
Auto-Assist and AI Assist users can access the full report. All users can access the Savings summary, which shows how tado° helped you save energy during the previous month.
If you use tado° only for cooling (with Smart AC Control), you’ll have Energy Savings instead of Energy IQ.
Energy Savings provides an energy consumption report for your cooling system.
Auto-Assist and AI Assist users can use Care&Protect to monitor their heating system and identify potential issues.
Edit
Select Edit at the bottom of the Home Screen to reorder tiles, hide tiles you don’t need, or show hidden tiles again.
In the bottom panel of the app, you can navigate between the Home Screen, Settings, and More.
Settings
Use Settings to manage your rooms, devices, Home, Skills, notifications, and app appearance.
Rooms & Devices
Select a room to:
Set a Temperature Offset (for tado° V3+ devices).
Set the Zone Controller.
Select a device to:
View its serial number and other details.
Select a Quick Action (only available for Smart Thermostats X (2nd gen.) and Wireless Temperature Sensors X (2nd gen)).
Set a Temperature Offset (for tado° X devices).
Activate Child Lock (only available for Smart Radiator Thermostats).
Activate Dazzle Mode (only available for certain devices).
View the installation instructions.
Manage Matter Connections.
View Interface Type (only available for Smart Thermostats X and Wireless Receivers X)
Set Control Mode (only available for Smart Thermostats X and Wireless Receivers X).
Set Relay Mode (only available for Smart Thermostats X (2nd gen.))

Update your Home name and address.
Delete your Home.
People
If you’re an Admin, you can:
View and manage people who have access to your Home.
Invite new users.
Skills
Select a Skill to learn more about it and change its settings.
You can also activate Auto-Assist or AI Assist and manage features such as Geofencing and Flow Temperature Optimization.
Notifications
Choose which notifications you want to receive from the tado° app.
Please note: If you manage multiple homes with tado°, push notifications only work for the Home you’re currently signed in to, unless you have an Auto-Assist or AI Assist subscription. With a subscription, push notifications can work across all your Homes.
Appearance
Choose System Default, Dark Mode, or Light Mode.
Toggle Show Humidity on or off to show or hide the humidity value on each room tile on the Home Screen.

Under More, you can:
