Air Comfort gives you insights into air freshness, temperature, and humidity in your home. It also suggests ways in which you can improve your indoor climate.
To use Air Comfort, you need AI Assist activated*.
Air Freshness
The Air Freshness card shows how fresh the air in your home is at the moment. Use this information to decide when it’s a good time to air your rooms.
Comfort Level per room
Air Comfort also shows the current comfort level for every room with a tado° device. This is indicated by the status in the upper-right corner of the room card and the small white dot on the graph. When the indoor climate is ideal, the status shows Pleasant, and the white dot will be in the centre of the graph.
tado° calculates the comfort level using the temperature and humidity in the room and an international standard for thermal indoor conditions. The standard also accounts for how people adapt to different seasons. This means that the ideal conditions for comfort can differ between winter and summer.
Mold Index
The Mold Index is available only if you have tado° X devices.
Air Comfort also shows a Mold Index for supported rooms. It uses the established VTT mold growth model to assess the risk of mold growth based on how temperature and humidity develop over time.
The Mold Index has three levels:
Low — low risk of mold growth.
Elevated — increased risk of mold growth.
High — high risk of mold growth.
When does the Mold Index appear?
The Mold Index doesn’t appear immediately after you install your tado° X devices. Air Comfort needs to collect enough temperature and humidity data to calculate the index accurately. This can take a few weeks.
Once enough data is available, you’ll find the Mold Index on the room cards in the Air Comfort screen. If the Mold Index isn’t available for a room, the label won’t be shown.
How is the Mold Index calculated?
Air Comfort monitors temperature and humidity in a room over time and uses this data with the established VTT mold growth model to assess the risk. The room is then assigned a Mold Index of Low, Elevated, or High.
Mold Index notifications
You’ll receive an in-app and push notification whenever a room’s Mold Index changes, whether the risk increases or decreases.
For example, you’ll receive a notification when the index changes from Low to Elevated or High, or from High to Elevated or Low.
When you open the notification, tado° takes you to the Air Comfort screen and automatically scrolls to the relevant room. If the Mold Index has changed in more than one room, the screen opens at the first room with a change.
*Legacy customers with installations prior to October 2025 don’t require AI Assist to access this feature.
