Legionella bacteria develop in water stored at temperatures between 20 °C and 50 °C.

To control the risk from Legionella in a domestic hot water tank:

  • set a target temperature of above 55 °C, or

  • raise the water temperature above 55 °C once a week to destroy the bacteria.

Most boilers connected to a domestic hot water system have anti-Legionella provisions. These remain unaffected when installing tado°. In rare cases, tado° replaces the controller that activates Legionella disinfection. If so, the same feature is activated on tado°.
